Discontinued: Set your location

With the Light Development position picker an arbitrary geographic position can be set easily. It lets the user define latitude, longitude, elevation and time zone in a simple user interface.

Storage for later use

Positions are stored in XML format in the user.home directory. This way each user can define an own set of locations individually and persistently. Storage, retrieval and maintenance of position files is done automatically by the component.

Simple location changes

The listing of preferred locations simplifies location changes. A click on the desired position in the list activates the selected position.

Easy integration in own solutions

The component can be integrated in own solutions easily. A developer can choose to only use the UI part or the XML persistence implementation too. Or the components can be used as a basis for custom extensions.

Sources and documentation included

All source codes as well as API docs and a user manual are included in the package. However, please note that different license types are offered for various usage types.

To distribute the Light Development Position Picker as a basis of own solutions for instance a license on top of the Light Development Basic License is required. Please see the shop section for details about pricing and license types.

Your copy

The Light Development Position Picker currently is available as part of the Light Development Holiday Library where it is used in application AllDay. A separate package with only the Position Picker is in preparation.

Screenshot

You can see a screenshot of the Light Development Position Picker in the documentation of application AllDay. Or see the the AllDay screenshots here.

Please note

To incorporate the Light Development position picker in own applications the latest version of the Java Software Development Kit (SDK) is required.
